In 1999, the Acadian Cultural Society's private collection
of historical and genealogical books, manuscripts and
microfilms were officially transferred to the auspices of
the Fitchburg Public Library. This was done in recognition
of the Library's long standing commitment to house, preserve
and make these holdings available to researchers, as well to
allow this sizeable collection to be properly catalogued and
maintained for generations to come.

This collection, now known as The Acadian Collection of the
Fitchburg Public Library is permanently housed in the
Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA
01420 Tel: (978) 345-9635. For the most part, the main
collection of printed matter can be found in the Library's
Willis Room and is accessible only through the librarian.
The society's microfilm collection of resources from the
diocese of Moncton can be found in the main library, and can
be accessed at any time or with the assistance of the
library staff. Please call the library ahead for the current
schedule of hours.
We are constantly adding to these holdings with new books
and periodicals as they arrive.
